A club built on community, inclusion and a shared love of the game

A basketball game is simple. 1 ball, 10 players, 2 hoops, 4 quarters. How many baskets can we make before the final whistle blows?

Community on the other hand? A network of support, people we can rely on, shared purposes, individuals united together, a place of understanding. Creating true community, that takes time, care, love, joy, work and love.

Our roots have always been our people. We began organically, a group of old and new friends coming together over a shared love of the game and a desire for human connection. Growing from this, we have made it our number one priority to create something the always puts it people first. This is a place of openness. That welcomes everyone and gives people a place of safety and joy.

We are incredibly lucky to have the support of some amazing people making things happen behind-the-scenes as well as so many wonderful members that all contribute to this network.

We know that a community-first club is universally beneficial. It gives us connection, purpose and pride. It brings together neighbours who might never have met otherwise, builds friendships that last well beyond the court and gives kids and adults alike a place to belong. For us teamwork, resilience and determination aren’t just buzzwords, they are skills that are foundational to everything we do.

From first-timers finding the courage to step outside of their comfort zone, to seasoned players mentoring the next generation, and our amazing supporters and parents who might not step on court but have a massive impact anyway, every single Clanger plays a part. We have turned up in the rain, pushed through injuries, celebrated wins (and learned from losses), seen players through their very first and very last games, and supported each other every step of the way.

Because at the end of the day, community sport isn’t just sport. It’s a movement. It’s a reminder that no matter your age, ability or background, there’s a place for you here. And together, we are making Kings Heath stronger, fitter and more united.
