Ubuntu

In a world of tribalism and division we're trying to provide a space where we can all unite as one people... our Community Basketball Club has built our foundations on the principle of Ubuntu.

Ubuntu in Southern Africa is a Bantu word that broadly means “humanity” or “humanity towards others.” It is also the name of a moral philosophy about how people relate to one another in society.

Ubuntu refers to a collection of values such as compassion, dignity, mutual care, and solidarity within a community. It emphasizes that harming or diminishing others also diminishes oneself, because everyone is part of an interconnected whole.

Similar to Jamaica's motto of 'Out of many, one people' - it's a principle based on the power of diverse communities, diverse mindsets and the collective power of many. And here at Kings Heath Community Basketball where we have >40 nationalities and s beautiful cross-section of society… we're all 'Clangers'
